Nuclear Greenwashing à la française

France will use its presidency on the EU council to push for an increase of nuclear energy in Europe instead of renewable technologies. The somehow wobbly argument is that nuclear energy is ought to be clean and safe and therefor “green”. Yet the reactors are dangerously obsolete, the problem of the radioactive waste is not solved and the promised technology for a safe nuclear energy is not yet developed. Macron’s sale’s speech doesn’t mention that the partly state owned nuclear industry is France’s, economic, military and even political backbone...
